Marvin Russell Lewis, 73, of Veedersburg, went to be with his Lord on Monday, December 27, 2010 at 2:30 am at his home with his family at his side after a long brave battle with COPD.
Marvin was born October 18, 1937 in Homer, IL. the son of Charles Russell and Mary Helen (Ashby) Lewis. He was the youngest of five children.
Marvin married Patty Beasley on June 11, 1983 in Veedersburg, IN. She survives. Also surviving are four children, Mitzi (Joe) Barnes, Covington; Kay (Steve) Harper, LeCanto, FL; Diane (Bill) Ingalsbe; and Patrick (Jenny) Beasley, both of Veedersburg; nine grandchildren, Jessica, Adam, and Faith Barnes, Bailee Harper, Sean Alexander, Ashlynn and Brandon Ingalsbe, Kayla and Creston Beasley; two brothers also survive him, Donald (Betty Jo) Lewis, Chrisman, IL; and Wayne (Winnie) Lewis, Georgetown, IL.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Robert Lewis, sister Betty Randall, sisters-in-law Jan Lewis and Delores Stead, and brother-in-law Bob Randall.
Marvin was a 1955 graduate of Georgetown High School. He was employed at OK Trucking for over twenty years, and retired from Covington Elementary School in 2005. His favorite past time was watching IU basketball, but he loved watching any sport. He also enjoyed playing cards, fishing, building and flying model airplanes, and photography. Marvin could fix or build anything that was put before him and loved working with his hands. His grandchildren were the light of his life.
Funeral service will be 11:00 am Thursday December 30, 2010 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. Interment at Rockfield Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 – 8:00 pm Wednesday December 29, 2010 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Southeast Fountain Community Foundation.
