Delilah J. Gunn, 79, of Veedersburg, died 2:50pm Tuesday March 1, 2011 at St. Vincent Hospital in Williamsport, Indiana.
She was born December 17, 1931 in Veedersburg the daughter of Earl and Josephine (Shoaf) Mitchell.
Surviving family include two daughters, Melanie (Michael) Ludlow, Lafayette; and Marianne (Sam) Brown, Veedersburg; a son Mark (Nedra) Gunn, Veedersburg; brother, Gary Mitchell, Veedersburg; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two step great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister Donna McLean, and an infant brother, Jackie Dean Mitchell.
Delilah graduated from Veedersburg High School in 1949. She was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Veedersburg. Through her life she had been employed at Carl Songer’s insurance office, and the Bureau of Motor Vehicles both in Veedersburg, and later in life at Walgreen Accounting Office in Danville, IL.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed attending bible studies. She also enjoyed her friends at the church and being a member of their Christian Women Fellowship.
Funeral service will be 12:00 noon Friday March 4, 2011 at the First Christian Church 301 N Mill St, Veedersburg with Pastor Garland Pannell officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am Friday at the church and continue until time of service. Interment at Bonebrake Cemetery, Veedersburg. Memorial Contributions may be made to the First Christian Church. Arrangements entrusted to Dickerson Funeral Home.
