Mary Ellen Beasley

Mary Ellen Beasley, 76, of Veedersburg, died at 12:08 am Sunday March 20, 2011 of complications from pneumonia at Kingston Care Center in Fort Wayne where she had resided the last six years due to a series of strokes. She was born at her grandparent’s home January 22, 1935 in Colfax, Indiana the daughter of Joseph W. and Gladys (Blacker) Holt. She married Carl C. Beasley in 1962, they had three children and divorced in 1976. Mary was a 1952 graduate of Veedersburg High School. Prior to her marriage she worked in the offices of Fountain Foundry Corp, Veedersburg and the State Highway Department, Indianapolis. After her divorce she worked in Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable departments at Olin / Flexel near Covington, retiring in 1997 after more than twenty years. She was an avid sports fan, reader, card player, enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, and shopping. Surviving are two sons, Mark E. Beasley, rural Veedersburg; Roger C. Beasley (wife, Julie), rural Newtown; daughter, Carla Jo Gerber (husband, Cary), Fort Wayne; sister, Barbara Kester, Veedersburg, sister-in-law, Nadine Holt, Veedersburg; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Joseph C. Holt of Veedersburg. Funeral service will be 7:00 pm Thursday March 24, 2011 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm Thursday and continue until the time of service. Inurnment will be at Rockfield Cemetery.
