Benny Robert Clark, 82, of Veedersburg died 5:15am Monday June 27, 2011 at Hickory Creek in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Mr. Clark worked as a farmer and at Shaffer’s Hatchery in Crawfordsville, IN before entering the Army in 1948. He served in Frankfort, Germany for 18 months. He worked at ALCOA Aluminum plant in Lafayette, Indiana before entering military service again to serve in the Korean Conflict for 18 months. He retired from Civil Service as a GS-11 Admin Officer at the U.S. Army Finance and Accounting Center, Fort Benjamin Harrison in 1977. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and member of the Waynetown Masonic Lodge #302 and Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, the VFW, and American Legion. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was born on a farm in Ambia, Indiana August 11, 1928 the son of Virgil and Alma Clark. He was raised in Roachdale and graduated from New Market High School. He married his wife of 62 years Marjorie Ann Knowles December 7, 1948 at the Christian Church in Boswell, Indiana. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Deborah Ann (Rene) Moreno of Concord, CA; a son William Virgil (Diane) Clark, of Hockessin, DE; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister. Funeral service will be 11:00 am Friday July 1, 2011 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Pastor Matt Swisher officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 pm Thursday June 30, 2011 at the funeral home with Masonic Service beginning at 6:45 pm. Interment at Coal Creek Union Cemetery, near Newtown, IN with military honors provided by American Legion Post #288.
