Wyona M. Owens

Wyona M. Owens, 82, of Veedersburg, passed away 9:35 pm Thursday September 22, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Mrs. Owens was born October 4, 1928 in Brooklyn, New York the daughter of Thomas H. and Corina (Shaffer) Smith. She married Willard C. Owens June 13, 1946 in Brooklyn, NY, they later moved to Veedersburg in 1948. She is preceded in death by her husband, one son, one grandchild, five great-grandchildren, three sisters, and two half-brothers. Surviving family include three daughters, Claire V. (Tom) Martin, Lamar MO; Cathy M. (Steve) Moore, Bicknell, IN; Cynthia C. (Marvin) Spear, New Richmond, IN; 10 grandchildren, including Crystal (Mike) Reinken who was very close to Wyona; and 23 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 11:00 am Monday September 26, 2011 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg. Interment at the V.A. National Cemetery in Danville, IL. Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 pm Sunday September 25, 2011 at the funeral home.
