Lyle W. Kruger, 79, of Veedersburg, passed away Saturday November 24, 2012 in the E.R. at Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford Florida while visiting his daughter.
Mr. Kruger was born August 9, 1933 in Sidell, Illinois the son of Edward F. and Lillian Marie (Heidrich) Kruger. He married Betty J. Hayman January 22, 1955 in Veedersburg Indiana.
Surviving family include his wife Betty Kruger, Veedersburg; two daughters, Dawn Kruger (Jim Jenkins), Lake Mary, Fla; Lynn Abernathy (Fiancé Scott Kesner), Covington, IN; granddaughter, Savanah Abernathy, Covington; brother, Ralph (Dorothy) Kruger, Veedersburg; nephew, Steve (Christy) Kruger, Veedersburg.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Roy Kruger.
Lyle graduated from Covington High School in 1951 and served his country in the US Navy 1955 – 1957, spending some of this time aboard the USS Great Sitkin. He was employed at C & D Battery in Attica for 42 years retiring in 1996, and was a contractor employee of the Veedersburg Post Office for 42 years Lyle was a member of the F. & A.M. Fountain Lodge #60 in Covington, Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, Zorah Shrine, O.E.S. Troy Chapter #145, American Legion Post # 263 in Cayuga, and the Low 12 Club in Wallace.
Lyle’s greatest enjoyment in life was his family. He was a devoted husband and a wonderful dad with a special love for his granddaughter Savanah. He was an automobile enthusiast who enjoyed taking care of his old cars and admiring those of others. Lyle also enjoyed traveling around the country.
A celebration of Lyle’s life will be 11:00 am Saturday December 1, 2012 at Dickerson Funeral Home with Pastor Dorman Winger officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 – 7:30 PM Friday November 30, 2012 at the funeral home. O.E.S. service will begin at 7:30 pm Friday and will be followed by the Masonic service.
