Alma M. Groce, 90, of Waynetown, passed away at her residence at 6:30 am Thursday January 31, 2013.
Mrs. Groce was born October 14, 1922 in Veedersburg, IN the daughter of Glenn L. and Vessie Mae (Peevler) Lightle. She married Samuel J. Groce December 24, 1940 in Veedersburg; he preceded her in death in 2010.
She is also preceded in death by a son, Randy Groce; three brothers, Derald, Wayne, and Walter “Poke” Lightle.
Surviving family include two sons, Larry (wife,Linda) Groce, Logsden, OR; Kevin (wife,Janet) Groce, Lisle, IL; a sister Jean (husband,Harry) Groce, Waynetown, IN; ten grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.
Alma and Sam had resided in Lisle IL for 25 years where she was employed at Xerox, upon their retirement in 1984 they moved to Cape Coral FL; she had been living with her sister Jean in Waynetown since 2011. In years past she had enjoyed bicycling and golfing with her husband, their many travels throughout the United States; and she always looked forward to eating out with their friends on Friday evenings. In recent years she spent a great amount of time reading and working crossword puzzles.
She graduated High School in Sterling, IN; and had been an active member of Cypress Grove Baptist Church in Ft Myers, FL.
Funeral service will be 3:00 pm Monday February 4, 2013 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Pastor Gary Johnson officiating.
