Catherine (Perry) Dismore, 85, died Sunday August 4, 2013 at her home in Veedersburg. Catherine was always known for her outstanding cooking and catering business. She also worked a multitude of jobs and ran several businesses over the years. She was a telephone operator in Veedersburg and served as a secretary at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, IL and for Dr. Suzuki in Covington.
She served as a Tupperware Manager for over 13 years. She owned and ran the Shirt Shop, The Cardinal, and the Quilt Block in Veedersburg. She sold Turquoise Jewelry, raised Silver Persian cats, operated a Trailer Park and purchased/sold numerous homes throughout the years.
Catherine was the first woman to serve on the Veedersburg Town Board and served two terms.
Her hobbies included cooking, shopping, traveling, playing cards and Bingo, and spending precious time with family and friends.
Catherine was born July 13, 1928 in Champaign County, IL, the daughter of John Henry and Vicy (Smith) Perry. She was married to Carl Wayne Dismore of Veedersburg for 54 years.
Survivors include: Husband: Carl Wayne Dismore, Daughter: Carla Jean (David E.) Newnum. Five Grandkids: Douglas Wayne (Lana) Walton, Candace Jo Dark, Clarissa Kay (Robert) Allen, Reuben Jay (Hali) Dark, and Brittany (Michael) Burns. Seven Great Grandkids: Kenli Walton, Ruby & Rosy Dark, Noah, Paige, & Addison Burns,
and Marshall Wayne Allen expected in September. She also had many nieces and nephews.
Her daughter, Cathy Jo (Walton) Sanders, Son-in-Law, Jay Dark, both parents, brothers Ivan, Elmo, Dewey, Charles, Robert, and sister Theda are all deceased. Her sister, Thelma resides in Oregon.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday August 6, 2013 at 2pm at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Dave Sims officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service. Burial will follow at Kingman Fraternal Cemetery.
