Alan "Al" Flint, 69, passed away at home Monday December 2nd, 2013. He was surrounded by family at the time of his death and holding his beloved daughter Kathie's hands.
Alan was born May 8, 1944 in Kankakee, IL to Stephen and Mae Flint, both of whom have preceeded him in death. He had three siblings: Dorothy (who survives), Geraldine and Carl (both of whom have passed). He married his wife Janet in April of 1980 and moved to Veedersburg, where he began a life full of laughter and friends.
His children and grandchildren meant more to Alan than life itself. He had three beautiful daughters: Kathie (Flint) Armstrong of Crawfordsville, Karen (Keith) Jenkins of Gary and Karla Flint (who preceeds him). He also was blessed with three step-sons: Jim Hughes (who preceeds him), Scott (Amanda) Hughes in Missouri and Todd (Penny) Hughes of Veedersburg. He was overjoyed to have fourteen grandchildren: Adam, Ashley, Andrew, Kristen, Kendall, Dylan, Miranda, Cory, Beka, Alex, Haylie, Tatum, Emrey and Caelan, and five great-grandchildren who were the joy of his heart: Jenna, Kenzie, Liam, Camden and Bella.
Alan was a musician for much of his life, playing the organ at many clubs and churches over the years. He was blessed to have so many talented musicians as friends, all of whom he would get together and "jam" with at every opportunity. He also owned a small computer building and repair service, and helped many people in the area with their machines.
"Big Al" had many MANY friends in the area - far too many to list. Each and every one of them was important to him in some way, and his life was richer because of them all.
A memorial service will be held Sunday December 15, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Hillsboro Nazarene church. Family will begin to receive people at 1:00. There will be desserts and punch after until 4:30 in the fellowship hall.
Arrangements entrusted to Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg.
