Angus W. Minick, 94, of Stone Bluff, passed away 2:21 am Saturday January 11, 2014 at his son Harold’s residence in Veedersburg.
He was born October 20, 1919 in Stone Bluff, IN the son of Archibald F. and Goldie Ann (Drollinger) Minick. He married Genevieve L. Shelley August 5, 1938 and their marriage was blessed with seven children. He later married Vera L. Watkins January 17, 1975.
Surviving family include four sons, Harold (Sherry) Minick, Veedersburg; Gerald (Jean) Minick, Hoopeston IL; Carl (Leah Mae) Minick, Kingman IN; William (Connie) Minick, Veedersburg; two daughters, Sandra (Gerry) Henderson, Veedersburg; Helen Jumps, Rockville; one sister Ethel Overpeck, Wyoming; 22 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren and 38 great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by two wives, a son Richard E. Minick, three sisters, and three brothers.
Angus had worked all his life as a Brick Mason out of Local #11 in Lafayette IN, having received his 50 year membership card.He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints in Williamsport, and the International Association of Brick Masons.
He enjoyed raising Mule teams and driving them around the area and in local parades. He also enjoyed mushrooming and coon hunting, and had been looking forward to an upcoming coon hunting trip. More than anything he cherished his children and grandchildren, and prayed for them every night.
Funeral service will be 8:00 pm Tuesday January 14, 2014 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Angus’ son Harold Minick officiating. Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm Tuesday and continue until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be given to American Heart Association or the American Alzheimer’s Association.
