Walter I. “Bob” Hayden, 81, of Covington, passed away 6:05 am Monday March 31, 2014 at The Waters of Covington.
Mr. Hayden was born September 10, 1932 in Covington the son of Ivan Lee and Mabel (Burgett) Hayden. He married Wanda L. Ping March 21, 1963 in Covington.
Surviving family include his wife Wanda Hayden, Covington; two sons, Michael Hayden, Terre Haute, and Greg (wife, Sharon) Hayden, Danville, IL; a daughter Sue (husband, Eli) Williams, Westville IL; three sisters, Patricia Marks, Covington; Delores Elliot, Covington; Joyce Craw, Champaign IL; sister in law Connie Julian; twelve grandchildren; two special step-grandchildren, T.J. Daniels and Travis Daniels; fourteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, David Hayden & Calvin Hayden; two sisters, Eva Mae Walters & Loraine Kornegay; and a step-son Timothy E. Daniels.
Bob graduated from Covington High School, and served his country in the U.S. Army, being stationed in Germany. He was a life member of the NRA, VFW Post #2395 in Covington, American Legion Post #350 in Perrysville. Bob enjoyed being outdoors both hunting pheasants and hunting rabbits with his beagle. He also enjoyed fishing the Wabash River. His love for the river started at an early age when he and his father would collect mussels from the Wabash.
Public graveside service will be 10:00 AM Wednesday April 2, 2014 at Mt Hope Cemetery with Dr. Bill Nickle officiating. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion.
