Richard Eugene Holt

Richard Eugene Holt, 87, of Covington, passed away June 5, 2014 at St Elizabeth Central Hospital in Lafayette IN at 3:15 a.m. Richard was born December 8, 1926 in Danville IL. the son of Fred Elmer Holt and Alora Newkirk Holt . He married Doris L. Coleman on January 18, 1945 in Veedersburg IN. He grew up in Wabash Township in Fountain County, IN; attended Rabb Grade School and graduated from Perrysville High School in Perrysville IN. He entered the U.S. Navy upon graduation in 1944 and served until 1946. He reenlisted in the Navy Reserves in 1966 and served until 1986. He worked for Grubb Implement in Covington for several years, drove a school bus for Covington School Corporation, worked for Foster Farms in Attica for a few years, and retired from Warren County School District in Williamsport in 1994. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Covington. He loved his church and family. He enjoyed doing mechanical work and reading. Surviving along with his wife are four children all of Covington; daughter, Carolyn Story; sons, Dale (Mary) Holt, Allen (Marilyn) Holt, and Fred (Sharon) Holt. His grandchildren are Lesa Epperson, Christy LaFoe, Jason Story, all of Covington; Lori Miller, Bremen IN; Tracy Holt, Covington; and Rich Holt, Tilton IL. He has seven step-grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son in law Lee Story. Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 pm Monday June 9, 2014 at Assembly of God Church in Covington IN. Funeral Service will begin 11:00 am Tuesday June 10, 2014 at the Assembly of God Church with Pastor Bob Fairchild officiating. Interment will follow service at West Liberty Church of Christ Cemetery.
