Margaret Ann Richey

Margaret Ann Richey, 83, of Covington, went to be with her Lord at 12:02 a.m. Sunday July 6, 2014. She was born July 23, 1930 in Hammond, IN the daughter of Andrew Jackson and Ethel Erma (Flaharty) Whitaker. She married David E. “Dick” Richey March 15, 1950 in Danville IL. Surviving family include four daughters Christy (Sam) Reed, Covington; Jennie Erma Richey, Danville IL; Emma (Darrel) Stonebraker, Covington; Donna (Dennis) Riley, Kingman; one son, Milo David Richey, Covington; 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; one step-daughter Shannon (Kenneth) Gross, GA; one sister, Carolee (James) Huston, Williamsport; four brothers, James Whitaker, Perrysville; Charles (Phyllis) Whitaker, Joe (Sandy) Whitaker, Dan (Sue) Whitaker, all of Covington. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter Lois Elaine Cummins, son in law, Gary Cummins, a great-grandson Caden Vain Cummins; 2 brothers, Steve Whitaker and Tim Whitaker. Margaret graduated from Covington High School in 1949. She was baptized August 18, 2010 and had attended New Century Church. She had been employed at Steel-Grip sewing factory in Kingman and earlier in life as a telephone operator in Danville IL. Throughout her life she enjoyed taking pictures, especially of her family; she also enjoyed researching the genealogy of her family, sewing, crocheting, crafts, gardening, and fishing. Margaret especially loved and enjoyed the time she spent with her family and friends. She will always be remembered for the great meals she cooked. Margaret was truly a dedicated Mother; her love was raising her children. She was a great artist who enjoyed painting saws, apple gourds, green Emu eggs, and even you if you stood still long enough. There are many friends that she has shared her paintings with. Visitation will be 4:00 – 8:00 pm (EST) Thursday July 10, 2014 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg. Funeral service will be 11:00 am (EST) Friday July 11, 2014 at the funeral home with Pastor Joe Dodds officiating. Interment will follow service at Mt Hope Cemetery.
