Charles Raymond "Chuck" Jones

Charles Raymond “Chuck” Jones, 89, of rural Kingman and formerly of Mellott, passed away 4:30 pm Tuesday January 13, 2015 at his daughter’s residence in Rockton, Illinois. Chuck was born January 19.1925 to Morris and Vivian Ruth (Hall) Jones of Rossville Illinois. He married Phyllis Kathleen Hillman “Mommy” on February 20, 1949 in Mulberry, Indiana. They celebrated 65 years of marriage this past year. Phyllis survives along with their 5 children; Dennis (Jeane) Jones, Mellott IN; Chuck (Amy) Jones, Kingman IN ; Kathy (Steve) Methe, Rockton IL; Steve Jones, Lake Wales, FL; and Kelly Chaffin, Mellott IN; 16 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren; a brother, Ed (Phyllis) Jones and two sisters, Adeline Weston & Emma Leak, all of Hoopeston, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, a step father, two sisters Patsy Jones & Mary Ann Sinclair, and three brothers Morris Jones Jr,, Robert Jones, and George Jones. Chuck served his country in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany at the conclusion of WWII. In 1964 he opened his lifetime business "Chuck's Body Shop" near Mellott IN and he retired in 1990. Over the years he enjoyed woodworking ,playing cards, gardening ,mushrooming, fishing to name a few. He also was involved with church activities including helping with youth camps as a camp cook along with his wife Phyllis. He was a member of the New Beginnings Church in Kingman, Indiana. More than anything Chuck loved and enjoyed his family. Services will be held at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg, Indiana on Sunday January 18, 2015. Visitation 1 p.m-3 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. and will be officiated by Bob Cruea of New Beginnings Church and Steve Crum of Spirit of Life both of Kingman, Indiana.
