Mary Jane Francis

Mary Jane Francis, 84, of Veedersburg, died 12:30 pm Friday February 6, 2009 at Woodland Manor Nursing Center in Attica, IN. Mrs. Francis was born September 2, 1924 in Stone Bluff, IN. the daughter of Dallas and Grace (Gookins) Hoagland. She married Gene Francis in 1943; he has preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by a son, one brother, and two sisters. Survivors include two daughters Gae (Robert) Myers and Gloria (Robert) McElwee both of Veedersburg; two brothers, Lawrence “Bud” (Kathy) Hoagland, Veedersburg; and Don (Helen) Hoagland, Anderson, IN; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Mary Jane graduated from Veedersburg High School and was employed at Payton’s Grocery for more than thirty years. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed collecting and shopping the area garage sales for many years. Private graveside services will be held at Osborn Prairie Cemetery with Rev. Gary Johnson officiating.
