Gladys R. Helms

Gladys R. Helms, 100, of Veedersburg, died 1:08 am Monday February 23, 2009 at St. Vincent Hospital in Williamsport, Indiana. Mrs. Helms was born April 27, 1908 in Bainbridge, IN the daughter of Edward R. and Lillie B. (Hall) Dobbs. She married Charlie Helms August 10, 1929 in Rockville, IN. He has preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by two sons, Charles E. Helms and Dean Helms, six brothers and eight sisters. Survivors include a son Gerald D. Helms, Veedersburg; sister Vivian Duvall, Tilton, IL; eight grandchildren, and several great and great- great-grandchildren. Mrs. Helms attended school in Sterling and at Veedersburg High School. She was previously employed at Bee Line in Veedersburg and area grocery stores. She was a member of Prairie Creek Baptist Church. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Wednesday February 25, 2009 at Dickerson Funeral Home with Pastor Loren Stephens officiating.
