Stewart E. “Spike” Riley, 73, of rural Kingman, passed away 10:30 pm Monday October 26, 2015 at the Waters of Covington.
Mr. Riley was born October 23, 1942 in Parker, Indiana the son of James V. and Lena (Hill) Riley Sr.
Surviving family include a brother, Joseph Riley Sr., Veedersburg; a sister, Florence Staggs, Muncie IN; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jim Riley Jr., Henry Riley; and two sisters, Beatrice Bush, Judy Boyle.
Spike graduated from Tangier High School, and served his country in the US Navy for 4 ½ years. After returning home from the Navy he was employed at Olin’s near Covington, and also worked part-time for Covington Police. He had also worked for Kingman and Veedersburg as a police officer before joining the Sheriff’s Dept. He was employed as Fountain County Deputy Sheriff from Nov. 1980 – Oct. 2006. Spike had worked on his own doing some carpentry and home remodel work through the years, and was also a firearms safety instructor for many years.
He will always be remembered for his sense of humor, and how he enjoyed to make others laugh. He enjoyed his many friends, fishing & hunting; and the many trips he had taken to Wyoming.
Memorial service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday November 7, 2015 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Jeff Woolwine officiating.
