Edith J Gerard

Edith J. Gerard, 76, passed away 10:52 PM Sunday December 13, 2015 at her residence in Veedersburg, IN. Mrs. Gerard was born January 7, 1939 in Cayuga IN the daughter of Love Edmund Alexander and Violet Irene (Whyde) Hughey. She married Jessie A. Gerard October 18, 1978; he has preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Icie McKinney; a son, Donnie Hughey; and two infant sons. Surviving family include two daughters, Barbara Long, Harrisburg, AR; Martha Wood, Veedersburg; two sisters, Mary Lowery, Veedersburg; Helen DeWitt, Ridgeville IN; a brother Leander Hughey, Covington; six grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. Edith had been employed in years past as a nurse’s aide at Tall Trees Nursing Home in Covington. She enjoyed being on the go, especially if a shopping trip was involved. And more than anything she loved and enjoyed her grandchildren. Graveside service will be 2:00 pm Friday December 18, 2015 at Mt Hope Cemetery in Covington.
