Thelma M. (Woodrow) (Osborn) West, 101, of rural Kingman, passed away at her daughter’s residence 11:45 AM Friday January 22, 2016.
Mrs. West was born September 20, 1914 near Cates, Indiana the daughter of George and Ola Agnes (Allen) Woodrow. She married David Le Roy Osborn and he preceded her in death January 16, 1960; her second marriage was to Harvey Franklin West and he preceded her in death March 22, 2004.
Earlier in life Thelma had been a member of Cates Community Church. She was a farm wife and had enjoyed cooking, canning, and raising her family on the farm. She enjoyed cooking large meals and always had more than enough food for everyone. Over the years she had also worked at Gross’ Restaurant in Sterling and the sewing factory in Covington.
Surviving family include a daughter, Margaret L. Barker, Veedersburg; three sons, Gary David Osborn, Veedersburg; Garrett Thomas West, St Petersburg, FL; Kenneth West, Indianapolis; four grandchildren Brett (Wanda Lally) Barker, Tammy (Darrell) Smith, Valerie (Lanny) Peterson, Dedee (David) Desper.; and several great and great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by three sisters, Madeline Dobbs, Alta North, Mildred Woodrow, and a brother, Leonard Woodrow.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Tuesday January 26, 2016 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Pastor Virgil Moss officiating.
