Clarence W. Kiger, 81, of Darlington and formerly of Fountain County, passed away 9:17 AM Wednesday February 17, 2016 at Wellbrooke in Crawfordsville IN. He had lived with his daughter Melanie in Darlington for the past 10 years.
Mr Kiger was born May 18, 1934 in Stringtown, IN the son of Cloyde Nelson and Verna May (Allen) Kiger. He married Shirley P. Rayphole May 4, 1956 in Yeddo IN, she has preceded him in death.
He is also preceded in death by his parents; a son, Roger Wayne Kiger; four brothers Cloyde Kiger Jr., Carl Kiger, Cyrle Lee Kiger, Cliston Kiger; and two sisters, Charlotte Davis and Cheryl Tibbett.
Surviving family includes four daughters, Zonda (David) Johnson, Zionsville IN; Yevon (David) Kelly, Ladoga IN; Melanie (Randy) Foxworthy, Darlington IN; Mya (Bob) Conrad, Crawfordsville IN; a brother Clifford Kiger, Kingman IN.; 16 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren.
Clarence served his country in the US Army during the Korean War stationed at West Point. He enjoyed attending auctions, working on cars and had taught many others this trade. He also enjoyed his many friends and liked to visit with them at the local coffee shops and pool hall. He was a member of the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene, and American Legion Post #288 in Veedersburg.
Funeral service will be 3:00 PM Saturday February 20, 2016 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Pastor Greg McDonald officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm Saturday and continue until the time of service. Burial will follow service at Centennial Cemetery near Kingman with military honors provided by American Legion Post #288. Memorial contributions may be given to help with funeral expense.
