Frederick G. Merrill

Frederick G. Merrill, 57, died 7:30 am Tuesday May 19, 2009 at his residence in Veedersburg. He was born October 24, 1951 in Danville, Illinois the son of Frederick “Ted” and Carol Jean (Blunk) Merrill. Fred is survived by a daughter, Crystal Merrill, Veedersburg; a son Timothy Merrill, Crawfordsville; mother, Carol Jean Merrill, Veedersburg; brothers, Terry L. Merrill (wife, Sylvia), Veedersburg; and Arthur Merrill(wife, Kelly), Lafayette; sister Luann Merrill Ray, Fort Wayne; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, son Robert Melvin, and brother, Timothy Merrill. Fred graduated from Fountain Central High School in 1970 and served his country in the U.S. Air Force in the Vietnam War. He had previously worked for Mid-state Wire in Crawfordsville for over twenty years, and had more recently worked as a truck driver. He received his greatest enjoyment in life from his family and friends, especially enjoying a good game of cards with them. Funeral Service will be 1:00 pm Friday May 22, 2009 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon Friday until the time of service. Interment will be at Danville National Cemetery with full military honors.
