Herbert “JR” Shoemaker Jr., 57, of Veedersburg, passed away at his residence 7:00 PM Friday June 3, 2016 surrounded by his family and friends. If love could have saved him, he never would have died.
JR was born in Danville, Illinois May 30, 1959. He was the son of the late Herbert Shoemaker Jr. and Frances A. (Rahm) Shoemaker. He was raised in Veedersburg and attended Southeast Fountain School Corporation.
JR formerly worked for a number of years as a grinder at Harrison Steel Castings Company.
During JR’s free time he enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, and hanging out with his lifelong best friend Raymond “Ray” Robbins. He also enjoyed cracking walnuts, chopping wood, and spending time with the little ones who meant the most to him; his grandbabies.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
On July 28 2012 JR married Dana Renee Chambers in Veedersburg, IN.
Surviving family include his wife, Dana Shoemaker, Veedersburg; one son, Christopher (Ron) Shoemaker, Springsboro, OH; three step-daughters, Charlena (Chuck) Chambers, Veedersburg; Katrina (Benny) Noriega, Attica; Anna (Jason) Smith, Attica; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Bruce (Alice) Shoemaker, Covington; Daniel (Glenda) Shoemaker, Veedersburg; two sisters, Denise Sullivan, Ohio; Ellee (Rick) Carpenter, Veedersburg; and several other loved ones.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Friday June 10, 2016 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM Friday at the funeral home and continue until the time of service.
