James Ray “Jim” Moore, 73, of Veedersburg, passed away 7:04 am Saturday June 18, 2016 at St Elizabeth Hospital in Crawfordsville IN.
Jim was born October 6, 1942 in Frankfort, IN the son of Raymond E. and Gracie M. (Jones) Moore. He married Jane Brown June 26, 1965 in Indianapolis; they had celebrated their 50th Anniversary last year.
Surviving family include his wife Jane Moore, Veedersburg; a son Brian (Stacy) Moore, Veedersburg; a daughter, Angela (Tim) Wilson, Kingman; five grandchildren, Scott Moore, Eli Moore, Abigail Moore, Andrea (Landon) Davenport, Drew Wilson (fiancée Hunter Ransom); a sister, Rozella (Gary) Surber, Crawfordsville; a sister in law Sandy Moore, Williamsport; two nieces and two nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donald Moore.
Jim graduated from Alamo High School in 1960. He served his country in the US Navy Seabees as part of the U.S. Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Five, in his 3 years of travel while in the Navy he was stationed in Okinawa and Saigon Vietnam. He was a member of the VFW. Throughout his life he had been employed at Harrison Steel, Olin, and had retired from C&D Battery in Attica.
Jim will always be remembered as a huge supporter of high school athletics, more importantly and passionately he was a huge supporter of his grandkids and all their many different activities; having traveled many miles attending their events. He enjoyed having morning coffee and visiting with his many friends. More than anything he loved his family, his grandkids, and he especially loved and adored his wife Jane.
Funeral service will be 11:00 am Thursday June 23, 2016 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Pastor James Furr officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 – 7:00 pm Wednesday June 22, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial will follow service at Centennial Cemetery near Kingman with Military Honors provided by American Legion Post #288. Memorial Contributions may be given to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
