Robert Furr

Robert Furr, 78, of Veedersburg, died 11:20 AM Tuesday June 9, 2009 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. Robert was born May 6, 1931 in Veedersburg the son of Lloyd R. and Lillian A. (Booe) Furr. He married Amy Foley December 11, 1954 in Covington, Indiana. He is preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Wayne Furr. Survivors include his wife, Amy Furr, Veedersburg; a son Robert W. “Bobby” Furr (wife Annette), Crawfordsville; two daughters, Lisa Ligocki (husband Ray), Oakwood, IL; Lezlie Furr, Danville, IL; a brother Donald Furr (wife Claudia), Veedersburg; a sister Betty Barker (husband Bob), Veedersburg; a sister-in-law Patsy Furr, Lafayette; three grandchildren, twins Lee & Lance Ligocki, Oakwood and Tanner Furr, Danville, IL, two step great-grandchildren Greg Rusk (wife Heather), Washington, IL. and Scott Rusk, Peoria, IL; two step-great-great grandchildren, twins Hanna & Taylor Rusk, Washington, IL. and several nieces and nephews. Robert attended Veedersburg High School and later graduated from Fountain Central High School with a GED and Utterback Brown Business College. He was employed at NAACO Hyster in Danville, IL and retired in 2001 after 33 years of service, he was also employed by Helger’s Vending in Mellott for 17 years. He enjoyed the local restaurants and visiting with his many friends. He also enjoyed watching I.U. basketball, wrestling and John Wayne movies. Funeral service will be 11:30 am Friday June 12, 2009 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. Interment at Rockfield Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 – 8:00 pm Thursday June 11, 2009 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Church of God Food Pantry in Veedersburg.
