Robert L. “Bob” Riley, 72, died 2:20 am Friday June 12, 2009 at his residence near Kingman, Indiana.
Bob was born September 23, 1936 near Steam Corner, Indiana the son of Albert C. and Hazel (Lindley) Riley. He married Betty Bushue June 29, 1957 at the Catholic Church in Covington Indiana. Betty preceded him in death in 1979.
He is also preceded in death by his parents and a brother Roger Riley.
Survivors include three daughters Pam (Dave) Frazier, Collison, IL; Cathy (Ed) Nixon, Kingman; and Susan Smith, Veedersburg; two sons, Dennis (Donna) Riley, Kingman; and Les Riley, Kingman; a brother Perry (Beverly) Riley, Sullivan, IN; two sisters Bonnie (Jake) Knight, Oklahoma; Marlene (David) Lewis, Covington; eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, special friend and soul-mate Virginia Wilkins, and three special friends since childhood, Leonard Allen, Herschel Orahood, and Duane Shumaker.
Bob graduated from Perrysville High School in 1954. He moved to his farm in 1964 where he farmed and raised hogs for many years. He worked for Hyster for 34 years, Harrison Steel for 10 years and a short time for the state highway department. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and the big cook outs at his lake and cabin with his many friends and family. He was a member of the West Liberty Church and had recently been attending the Freedom Christian Church near Wallace. He was also a member of the Wallace Masonic Lodge #495, NRA, and the Independent Lift Truck Union.
Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm Monday June 15, 2009 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Pastor Curtis McIntyre officiating. Interment at Centennial Cemetery near Kingman. Visitation will be 4:00 – 8:00 pm Sunday June 14, 2009 at the funeral home with Masonic Services beginning at 7:45 pm.
