Jessica Elizabeth Coats, 24, of Veedersburg died 3:45 pm Friday August 21, 2009 at her residence near Veedersburg, following a two year battle with cancer. She was born September 6, 1984 in Crawfordsville, IN the daughter of Matt Coats and Susan L. Riley. Surviving family includes her father, Matt Coats (wife, Martha “Marty”), Veedersburg; mother Susan L. Smith (husband Jerry L.), Veedersburg; sister Linley Ray Smith, Veedersburg; grandmother Vivian Smith, Covington; step-brother Dustin Keith (wife, Laene), Viera, FL; step-sister Dana Quinones, Wellington FL; nieces & nephews Gavin & Logan Keith and Ariel & Evan Quinones; special friend Bobby Moore; and her dog Isabella Jean Coats “Izzy” She is preceded in death by a cousin Todd Livengood, step-grandfather Arthur Clawson Jr. and recently her grandfather Robert Riley, and grandmother Jean Coats. Jessica graduated from Fountain Central High School in 2003 and ISU in December 2008 with a RN, BSN Degree. She had been unable to complete her nurse’s board exam as a result of her sickness and was recently granted her board certification. She was looking forward to filling a nursing position that was reserved for her at Riley Hospital pediatric oncology department in the Stem Cell Transplant Unit. She was a member of the Freedom Christian Church near Wallace. Jessica loved and enjoyed life and cherished the time she had to spend with her friends, family, and classmates. She loved playing cards and games and was well known for her beautiful and contagious smile. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Tuesday August 25, 2009 at West Liberty Church of Christ with Pastor Thomas Cash officiating. The Church is located south of Covington at 2806 W State Road 32, Covington, IN 47932. Visitation will be 3:00 – 8:00 Monday August 24, 2009 at the Church.
