David Eugene "Dick" Richey

David Eugene “Dick” Richey, 82, of Covington, went home to be with the Lord 11:58 am Thursday September 17, 2009 at Woodland Manor Nursing Center in Attica, IN. Mr. Richey was born February 16, 1927 in Grandview, Illinois the son of Melvin D. and Jennie M. (Augustas) Richey. He married Margaret A. Whitaker March 15, 1950 in Danville, Illinois. Surviving family includes his wife, Margaret Richey, Covington; five daughters, Shannon Gross (husband Kenneth), Georgia; Christy Reed (husband Sam) Covington; Jennie Erma Richey, Danville, IL; Emma Stonebraker (husband Darrel) Covington; Donna Riley (husband Dennis) Kingman; a son Milo David Richey, Covington; son-in-law Gary Cummins, Brocton, IL; two sisters Audrey Carroll, Normal, IL; and Mary Clendenen (husband Robert) Monticello, IN; twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Lois Elaine Cummins, a great grandson Caden Vain Cummins, four brothers and two sisters. Dick served his country during WWII in the U.S. Air Force 5th Air Corps, Pacific Theater. He had been employed by Covington Food Locker, County Highway Department and he retired from Danville Metal Stamping. He was a member of the NRA and the F. and A.M. Lodge. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, especially coon hunting, fishing, and mushrooming. He especially loved and enjoyed the time he had to spend with his family and many friends. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Monday September 21, 2009 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg. Visitation will be 4 – 8 pm Sunday September 20, 2009 at the funeral home. Interment at Mt.
