Garland D. Fisher, 91, of Veedersburg, passed away 8:50 am Wednesday March 17, 2010 at the Waters of Covington.
He was born October 3, 1918 in Veedersburg the son of William and Belle (Askren) Fisher. He married Jean Black Nov. 12, 1947 at the First Christian Church in Veedersburg.
Surviving family includes his wife, Jean Fisher, Veedersburg; three sons, Phillip (Susan) Fisher, Attica; Terry (Patty) Fisher Tampa, FL; Paul (Lisa) Fisher, Anderson, IN; five grandchildren, April (Mike) Kedvesh, Colby Fisher, Rachael (Mike) Taylor, Ryan Fisher, Reanna Fisher, and four great-grandchildren.
Mr. Fisher graduated from Veedersburg High School in 1937 and served his country in the U.S Army Air Corps during WW II in the European Theater. In years past he had been employed at Fountain Foundry, operated the Mobil Station in Sterling, and retired in 1980 from Warner Lambert in Rockford, IL. He was a member of the American Legion Post #288 and was active in their honor guard, F. & A. M. #491, and the First Christian Church in Veedersburg. He enjoyed woodworking and had built many projects over the years.
Funeral service will be 11:00 am Saturday March 20, 2010 at the First Christian Church in Veedersburg with Pastor Rick Williams officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 pm Friday March 19, 2010 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg. Masonic service will begin at 7:45 pm.
