Howard E. Fleck, 80, of Remington, IN and formerly of Veedersburg, died at his residence 8:00 PM Saturday March 27, 2010.
He was born April 4, 1929 in Ari, Indiana. He married Joan D. VanNatta May 14, 1963 in West Lebanon, IN. She preceded him in death November 21, 2005.
He is also preceded in death by an infant brother Carl Fleck, and a sister Nancy Amanda Fleck Snyder.
Surviving family includes a daughter Howetta Ann (Edward) Heath, Monticello, IN; a step-son Douglas R. (Bebe) McGill, Reynolds, IN; two brothers, Franklin “Red” (Joyce) Fleck, Veedersburg; and Sam (Frances) Fleck, Perrysville, nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Howard served his country in the U.S. Army as M.P. during the Korean War. He worked as a farmer and had been employed by Harrison Steel, Danville V.A., and Alcoa in Lafayette. He was a member of the American Legion Post #288 in Veedersburg. He enjoyed mushrooming, raising his farm animals, and his dog “Bear”.
Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Friday April 2, 2010 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg, IN. with Pastor Tom Hunter officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday April 1, 2010 at the funeral home. Interment at Mt Hope Cemetery in Covington with military honors provided by American Legion Post #288.
