Thelma Louise Irwin

Thelma Louise Irwin, 97, of Veedersburg, died 2:20 am Saturday May 1, 2010 at Lane House Nursing Home in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Thelma was born November 20, 1912 in Veedersburg, Indiana the daughter of Earl and Alice (Phipps) Boord. She married Leo R. Irwin April 27, 1932, he has preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by a son, James E. Irwin, two sisters, Mariam Layman and Helen Clements, and two brothers Leighton Boord and Joe Boord. Surviving family include three daughters, Alice E. (Gordon) Stonecipher, Hillsboro; Rita J. Hoskins, Hillsboro; Mariam A. “Mim” Keeling, Veedersburg; a brother Robert O. Boord, Las Vegas, NV; eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She graduated from Veedersburg High School in 1931. Before retirement she had worked at RR Donnelly and Cade Insurance Company. She was a member of Sterling Christian Church, Sterling Ladies Aid, Hub Club, and Kit Club. Thelma cherished the many years she had to spend with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral service is 11:00 Thursday May 6, 2010 at Sterling Christian Church in Veedersburg with Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday May 5, 2010 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg. Memorial contribution may be given to Rose Hill Cemetery.
