William G. “Trader Bill” Parish, 80, of Kingman, died 10:33 pm Tuesday October 19 at his residence. He was born on this farm and had lived his entire 80 years here.
Bill was born October 11, 1930 at the home place in Kingman the son of Ralph and Mildred (Meade) Parish. They have preceded him in death, he is also preceded in death by his step-mother Ruth (Stucker) Parish. He married Pat Grissom July 2, 1960 in Crawfordsville, they celebrated their 50th anniversary earlier this year.
Surviving family include his wife, Pat Parish, Kingman; son, John (Carla) Parish, Covington; daughter, Penny (Ralph) Wakefield, St. Petersburg, FL; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He graduated from Kingman High School in 1949, and served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the F.& A.M. Lodge #636 in Yeddo. He was employed for many years as a livestock inspector for Indiana Board of Health. Bill spent much of his time trading and selling along with flea marketing. He also loved visiting with people and telling a good story.
Funeral service will be 11:00 am Friday October 22, 2010 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Pastor Kenneth Majors officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 – 8:00 pm Thursday October 21, 2010 at the funeral home. Interment at Centennial Cemetery in Kingman.
