Rosemarie “Aunt Tom” Sutherlin, 83, of Veedersburg, died 3:15am Friday October 8, 2010 at St. Clare Hospital in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
She was born February 14, 1927 in Hillsboro, Indiana the daughter of James V. and Freda J. (Hershberger) Ellis. She married Joe Junior Beckelhymer in May 1946, he preceded her in death in 1954, she then married Raymond L. Sutherlin, he preceded her in death in 1988.
She is also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Roseann; a brother, Durward; and a sister Gwen.
Surviving family includes two daughters, Sue (John) Ratcliff, Kingman, and Jane (Richard) York, Veedersburg; a son Phillip Joe Beckelhymer (Pam), Terre Haute; brother, James (Alberta) Ellis, Hillsboro; a very special friend Bill McCann; five grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
Rosemarie graduated from Kingman High School in 1945. She spent her life raising and enjoying her family as a homemaker and farm wife. She loved the Indiana summers and working in her yard, flower and vegetable gardens. She also enjoyed local history and doing genealogy. She was a member of the D.A.R., National Historical Society, and Millcreek Township Home Ec. Club and D.A.C.
Funeral service was held Sunday October 10, 2010 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Pastor Kenneth Majors officiating. Interment at Centennial Cemetery, Kingman, IN. Memorial contributions may be given to the Alhezeimers Association.
