Charles R Simonton

Charles R. Simonton, 71, of Veedersburg passed away at his residence 2:45 PM Tuesday September 4, 2018 with his family at his side. Charles was born September 26, 1946 in West Lebanon, IN the son of Howard and Eula (Gross) Simonton.  He married Ruth C. Mack May 14, 1968 in West Lebanon. Surviving family include his wife, Ruth Simonton, Veedersburg; a son. Steven C. (Julie Mathews) Simonton, Veedersburg; a daughter, Sylvia (Howard) Logsdon, Veedersburg; a brother, Walter Simonton, West Lebanon; two sisters, Patricia Babb, Glascow, KY; Lameta Smart (Jim), Brazil IN; and two grandchildren, Alexis Logsdon, Tommy Logsdon. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Richard Simonton, and a sister-in-law, Donna. Charles graduated from Seeger High School in 1965. He had been employed many years as a crane operator and supervisor for Rogers Group in Warren County and Material Service Stone Quarry in Fairmount, IL.  In his free time he enjoyed fishing, and had taken many trips to Eagle River in Wisconsin throughout his life. He was a stock car driver but as a spectator he followed the USAC and world of outlaw sprint car fan; and he liked tinkering with his antique tractors. More than anything he enjoyed his family and friends, and he especially loved his grandkids. Funeral will be 2:00 PM Tuesday September 11, 2018 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg.
