Dallas J Ponder

Dallas J. Ponder, 80, of rural Veedersburg IN,  passed away 6:54 PM Sunday October 13, 2019 at Community Heart and Vascular Hospital in Indianapolis Indiana.

Dallas was born November 28, 1938 near Veedersburg the son of William Robert “Bill” and Mildred A. “Milly” (Nicklas) Ponder, they have preceded him in death.  He married Cynthia J. Harrison September 18, 1957 in Ringgold GA.

Surviving family include his wife Cynthia J Ponder, Veedersburg; two daughters, Julia Christine (Kevin) Hart, Monticello IN; Claudia Jane (Bill) Surguy, Plymouth IN; two sons, Jeffrey Charles (Lisa) Ponder, Veedersburg; Clark Jay (Shaun) Ponder, Veedersburg; a sister,  Donna (Mike) Cunningham, Veedersburg;  six grandchildren, Ashley (Brandon) Ward, Tiffany (Sean) Alexander, Brooke Ponder, Sonja (Taner) Eads, Colin (Brianna) Hart, Noah Surguy; three great-grandchildren Halle Jo Ward, Harrison Jay Ward, Graylynn Eads.

Dallas graduated from Veedersburg High School in 1956, and attended Purdue University. He was employed at TeePak in Danville IL for 47 years prior to his retirement. He was also a lifelong grain farmer and had raised Charolais beef cattle for many years, along with raising a few peacocks. He was a member of the Sterling Christian Church in Veedersburg; his other memberships include the Indiana Charolais Association, A.I.C.A., and the Indiana Beef Cattle Association.

Funeral service will be 2:00PM Friday October 18, 2019 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Pastor Gary Johnson officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00PM Friday and continue until the time of service at 2:00. Burial will be at Rockfield Cemetery near Veedersburg. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer memorial contributions be given to the Sterling Christian Church, Indiana Junior Charolais Association, or Indiana Junior Beef Cattle Association.
