Darwin Current

R. Darwin Current 82, of Veedersburg, IN, passed away 11:24 PM Saturday June 8, 2024 at The Waters of Covington.

Darwin was born August 11, 1941 in Danville, IL the son of Earl Russell and Winifred Lucille (Poage) Current. He married Carolyn S. Beaver April 20, 1962; they were married for 33 years and were blessed with two sons Scott and Mark.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Rexanna Charlotte Cummins, and a great-grandson Leo Current.

Surviving family include two sons, Scott (Tori) Current, Veedersburg; Mark (Denise) Current, Veedersburg; two sisters, Zandra Block, Danville, IL; Darlene Meganhardt, Catlin IL; six grandchildren, Adam (Samantha) Current, Shelby (Isaiah) Benike, Allyson Current, Trevor Current, Hayden Current, David Current; and a great-grandson Gordon Current. He is also survived by his special friend and companion Elvie Holycross.

Darwin attended Perrysville High School, and worked as a Handyman/Jack of all Trades for most all of his life in the Covington/Veedersburg area. He had a CB Radio Business for many years, along with his Satellite TV Service; he was also employed at the Sewing Factory and The Covington Cable Company. He was willing & able to work on most anything. He will also be remembered as a very generous person, willing to help anyone he could.

A Celebration of Life will be at 6:00 PM Saturday June 15, 2024 at Sterling Christian Church 701 South Sterling Ave Veedersburg IN 47987 with Pastor Jason Davis officiating.  Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM Saturday at the church and continue until the time of service.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Paws & Claws Animal Shelter or charity of choice.
