Davis A. “Pete” Froedge, 92, of rural Veedersburg, passed away 8:20 PM Thursday August 30, 2018 at his residence with his family at his side. Pete was born July 20, 1926 in Steuben Township Warren County Indiana the son of John S. and Eva Lee (Farris) Froedge. He married Lela B. Dark August 6, 1950 in Montezuma, Indiana; she preceded him in death March 4, 2011. He is also preceded in death by a son, Todd Froedge; a great-grandson Killian Shields; three brothers, Dewey, Raymond and James Froedge; two sisters Dorothy Lightle and Marjorie Hughes. Surviving family include three sons, Michael (Virginia) Froedge, Crawfordsville; Tom Froedge, Veedersburg; John (Cindy) Froedge, Veedersburg; two daughters, Lea Ann (Tom) Lawler, Crawfordsville; Jan (Terry) Shields, Veedersburg; ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Pete served his country in the US Army during WWII stationed in Okinawa as an ambulance driver with the US Army Medics. After his service in the Army he worked for Ed McKinney hauling coal and shale to the Veedersburg Brickyard, Norfolk and Western Railroad, and Veedersburg Grain. In 1954 he began working for Ralph Little and was employed for 50 years as a truck driver and salesman for Little Beverage Company in Attica IN; retiring in 2004. He was a member of the VFW Post #3318 in Attica. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Tuesday September 4, 2018 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Pastor Dave Sims officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM Tuesday at the funeral home and continue until the time of service. Burial will be at Bonebrake Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Post #288.
