Donald Gene Craig, 94, of Veedersburg, passed away 6:10 AM Saturday August 10, 2019 at the Waters of Covington.
Gene was born November 25, 1924 in Veedersburg the son of Edgar and Alberta (Baldwin) Craig. He married Mona Lea Smith December 2, 1945 in Veedersburg; she preceded him in death May 1, 2012.
Surviving family include two daughters, Bonnie Morton and Kathy (Doug) Pugh; both of Veedersburg; two grandchildren, Amber Petak & Troy Pugh; four great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Pugh, Orion Pugh, Josey Harden & Cassidy Harden.
Gene attended Veedersburg High School before joining the US Army where he served his country during both WWII and the Korean War. He was employed for many years buying and selling timber. Gene and Mona also owned and operated the Veedersburg Flower Shop for many years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #288, VFW Post #2395, F. & A.M. Lodge #491 in Veedersburg; and he was a lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association in Amarillo, TX. In his younger years he had enjoyed hunting and fishing in his free time.
Memorial service will be 4:00 PM Saturday August 17, 2019 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Pastor Garland Pannell officiating. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM Saturday and continue until the time of service. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post #288 following the Memorial Service.
