Donald L. Payton

Donald L. Payton, 82, of Veedersburg IN, passed away 3:16PM Wednesday November 22, 2017 at his residence with his family at his side. Don was born September 22, 1935 in Veedersburg the son of Glen and Zula (Peavler) Payton. He married Judy Kochell July 1960. Surviving family include his wife of 57 years Judy, Veedersburg; two sons, Chris (J.J.) Payton, Veedersburg; Dennis (Staci) Payton, Covington; sister-in-law, Marilyn Payton, West Lebanon; four grandchildren, Shane (Haley) Payton, Kierstin (Ryan) Paschal, Emily Payton, Ben Payton; two great-grandchildren, Piper Ann Paschal and Tenley Lynn Payton; and a dear family friend, Stacie Maynard. He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother Duane Payton; and a sister, Lois Edwards. Don graduated from Veedersburg High School in 1954. He served his country in the US Army following high school. Don worked at Olin Corporation and retired after 35 years of employment. He was an avid sports fan and would always cheer for Notre Dame Football, IU Basketball, and Fountain Central sports. Don thoroughly enjoyed spending family time with his four grandchildren and two great-granddaughters. Per Don’s request there will be no services.
