Donald Lee Staggs Sr.

Donald Lee Staggs Sr. 86, of rural Veedersburg, IN;  passed away 12:27 PM Thursday January 11, 2018 at Franciscan Health in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Don was born January 11, 1932 in Saginaw, Michigan the son of Waldo and Florence (Hunter) Staggs. He married Ruth E. Elmore December 17 1960 in St Ignes, Michigan; she preceded him in death October 2, 2016. He is also preceded in death by a son, Donnie Staggs; and a daughter Mary Sue. Surviving family include a son, Jeff (Annie) Staggs, Veedersburg; three daughters, Missy Staggs, Veedersburg; Janet Phillips, Michigan; Peggy Prchal, Arizona; four step-children, Gary (Vickie) Barnett, Vincent , AL; Bobby (Dale) Brewer, Jasper, AL; Mike Barnett, Tarpon Springs, FL; Ken Barnett, SC; a brother, Tom (Donna) Staggs, Pawpaw, MI; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Scott’s Prairie Christian Church and the F. & A.M. Lodge #491 in Veedersburg.  He had enjoyed collecting antiques and managing the Steam Corner Flea Market for over 40 years with his wife Ruth. He also enjoyed working in the yard and spending time with his family. Funeral service will be 2:00PM Tuesday January 16, 2018 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Pastor Jerry Holdman officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon and continue until the time of the Masonic Service at 1:45 PM on Tuesday. Burial will follow service at Wolf Creek cemetery near Wallace, Indiana.
