Doris E. Crumley, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Bickford Memory Care in Lafayette, IN. Born July 7, 1929 in Veedersburg, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Flora Myers Keeling. Doris married Marvin L. Crumley on October 30, 1954, he preceded her in death September 19, 1997. Doris was also preceded in death by three brothers; Paul Leroy, Carl and Gordon Keeling. Doris resided in Veedersburg for most of her life. She was a cashier at the local grocery store, and retired as a cook at Southeast Fountain Elementary. After retirement she worked as a personal assistant to the late Doc and Phyllis Neeley. She was a faithful servant of New Century Church and formerly served as a Sunday School teacher at Veedersburg United Methodist Church. Doris served as a Girl Scout Leader, member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Kit Club and Quilting Club. During her life Doris enjoyed camping and traveling with her family, sewing, crocheting, and needlepoint. She was the “neighborhood mom” caring for children and grandchildren on Knob Hill where all the children would gather at her home during summer days. Her days at Bickford Cottage were spent coloring, crafting jewelry, and doing jigsaw puzzles with her daughters and caregivers. She was known as the “Puzzle Queen”. Special thank you to her caregivers at Bickford and Great Lakes Caring for taking care of Doris as if she was family. Surviving family include three daughters, Arletta (David) Brown, Lafayette; Diana (Glenn) Knecht, Romney; Marvalene (Michael) Hunt, Archer, FL. Also surviving are six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11 am Friday, February 16, 2018 at Dickerson Funeral home in Veedersburg, IN with Pastor David Inskeep officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am Friday and continue until the time of service. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery,Hillsboro. Online condolences at www.dickersonfuneralhome.com.
