Elmer "Gene" Eugene Lewis

Elmer Eugene “Gene” Lewis, 85, of Veedersburg, passed away 6:26PM, Saturday February 26, 2022, at Franciscan Health East in Lafayette, Indiana. Gene was born July 9, 1936 in Danville, Illinois, the son of late Carl P. and Caroline Elizabeth (Carpenter) Lewis. Surviving family include his long-time companion and best friend, Barbara Wait; three sons, Carl, Kevin, James; a daughter, Sherrie; a sister, Melba (Cliff) Moore, Veedersburg; and a brother, Bud Lewis, Danville, Illinois. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Rodgers. After graduating high school Gene served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He found great enjoyment attending the weekly auctions at Jordan’s near Yeddo. Per Gene’s request there will be no public services, and he will be buried at Centennial Cemetery near his parents.
