Fauniel Steffy

Fauniel L. Steffy, 95, of Veedersburg IN, passed away 9:10 PM Friday March 1, 2019 at Williamsport Nursing and Rehab.

Fauniel was born September 20, 1923 in Veedersburg the daughter of Francis Marion and Goldie (Lewsader) Newnum.  She married Frank J. Steffy September 10, 1945 in Rockville, Indiana.

She is preceded in death by her husband, a sister Grace Johnson; and three brothers, William Stahl, Fred Newnum, and Russell Newnum.

Surviving family include two sons, Frank (Sue) Steffy, Hodginville KY; Michael (Carolyn) Steffy, Veedersburg; a daughter, Sue (Rick) Hollis, Veedersburg; eight grandchildren, Lisa Purple, Michael Steffy, Jamie Steffy, Jeremy Steffy, Jennifer Robertson, Greg Hollis, Jeff Hollis, April Massey; and several great and great-great grandchildren.

Fauniel was a member of the Sterling Christian Church in Veedersburg. She graduated from Veedersburg High School. Throughout her life she had worked at the Grab It Here and helped as a playground monitor at Veedersburg Elementary School. In her earlier years she had enjoyed camping with her husband and their friends as part of the Hub Nuts Camping Club. She had also enjoyed quilting and more recently she had spent much of her time reading.

Visitation will be 12:00 – 2:00 PM Wednesday March 6, 2019 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg. Funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Gary Johnson officiating. Burial will follow service at Rockfield Cemetery near Veedersburg.
