Freda M Pickett Rich, 88, of Veedersburg, IN passed away at 9:13 AM Wednesday January 3, 2018 at The Legacy in Lafayette, IN. Her loved ones were at her side. Freda was born in Veedersburg on September 23, 1929 to John and Carolyn (Florey) Pickett. She graduated from Veedersburg High School and attended nursing school in Lafayette, IN. She married James Rich on September 26, 1950 and spent her years as a dedicated wife of a career Air Force officer and fulltime mother. Freda and her husband, Jim, were avid antique collectors for many years. Freda is survived by two daughters, Marci Roark of Navarre, FL and Jahn (Stephen) Songer of Veedersburg, along with grandson David (Dawn) Songer, granddaughter Karen (Tyler) Rice, and great grandchildren, Dylan Songer and Madilynn Songer. Also surviving are one sister, Ann (Gene) Cushman and one brother Robert (Elaine) Pickett, several nieces and nephews and their families - all of whom she loved dearly. Freda was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, five sisters, and one brother. A special angel awaiting her was her grandson, Brett Songer. Her daughters extend a special thanks to Bill, Jim, and Allison Pickett, Carrie and Dana Reed, and Mike Newlin for sharing their love with Freda, especially during her last year. An intimate visitation will be Saturday, January 6th, at Dickerson Funeral Home from 1 – 2 PM with a family graveside committal following at Bonebrake Cemetery, Veedersburg.
