Hardy R. Keeling, 82, lifelong resident of Veedersburg, passed away 10:25 PM Wednesday July 10, 2019 at Exceptional Living Center in Brazil, Indiana.
Hardy was born August 31, 1936 in Veedersburg the son of Leslie C. and Thirza M. (Brewer) Keeling. He married Judy A. Cates October 21, 1966 in Covington, Indiana.
Surviving family include his wife, Judy A. Keeling, Veedersburg; a daughter, Cindy (Alan) Franklin, Hillsboro; five sons, Jeffrey (Linda) Keeling, Winterville NC; Brian (Charlene) Keeling, Attica; Steven (Kim) Keeling, Waynetown; James Keeling, Butler PA; Rodney Keeling, Attica; a brother Owen L. (Carol Wolfe) Keeling, Kingman; thirteen grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Betty Peacock.
Hardy graduated from Veedersburg High School in 1954. Earlier in life he had been employed at Hyster in Danville, and following that position he was employed as an engineer assistant for the Indiana State Highway Department, retiring from there in 2002. He was a member of the Nazarene Church.
He enjoyed golfing and fishing; he especially enjoyed the fishing trips he had taken with his sons to Canada. He was an avid sports fan, with his favorite teams being Colts Football, IU Basketball, and St Louis Cardinals Baseball.
Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 PM Monday July 15, 2019 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday July 16, 2019 at the funeral home with Pastor Virgil Moss officiating. Burial will follow at Rockfield Cemetery near Veedersburg.
