Jean A Fisher

July 15, 1924 — February 28, 2018

Jean A. (Black) Fisher, 93, of Veedersburg IN, passed away 1:36 PM Wednesday February 28, 2018 of natural causes at Williamsport Nursing and Rehab Center. Jean was born July 15, 1924 in Canton, Ohio the daughter of Robert Speed and Gladys Smith (McGuire) Black. She married Garland D. Fisher November 12, 1947 at the First Christian Church in Veedersburg.  Garland preceded her in death March 17, 2010 She is also preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Pepping; and two brothers, George Black and Robert Black. Surviving family include three sons, Phillip (Susan) Fisher, Attica IN; Terry (Patty) Fisher, Largo FL; Paul (Lisa) Fisher, Anderson IN;; five grandchildren, April (Mike) Kedvesh, Colby Fisher, Rachael Fisher, Ryan Fisher, Reanna Fisher; and several great-grandchildren. Jean graduated from Veedersburg High School in 1942. Earlier in her life she had been employed as an executive secretary at Carl Songer’s insurance agency, and had been an active member in the First Christian Church in Veedersburg serving as a Sunday School teacher and as part of the Christian Women’s Fellowship. She had also been an active member in the Order of the Eastern Star in years past. More than anything she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM Sunday March 11 and continue until the time of service. Memorial service will be 4:00 PM Sunday March 11, 2018 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Pastor Garland Pannell officiating. Burial will be at Kingman Fraternal Cemetery at a later date.
