John Robert Olds, 79, of Veedersburg IN, passed away 1:34AM Tuesday January 8, 2019 at St Vincent Hospital in Williamsport, Indiana. John was born May 23, 1939 in Veedersburg the son of John and Violet (Irwin) Olds. He married his wife of 60 years, Saundra S. Linker August 19, 1958 in Dalton GA. Surviving family include his wife, Saundra S. Olds, Veedersburg; a son, Kevin R. (Jo) Olds, South Pasadena FL; a daughter-in-law, Jami Olds Massey, Fairhope, AL; two sisters, Mary (Harlan) Purple, Covington; Leah Mae (Carl) Minick, Wallace; four grandchildren, Korey (Molly) Olds, Indianapolis; Kyle M. Olds, Westfield; Lauren (Lloyd Read) Olds, Pleasanton CA; Emily B. Olds, Chandler, AZ; two step-grandchildren, Rich Hebard, Michigan; Trenton Bryant, Indianapolis; two sister-in-laws, Susan Linker, Veedersburg; Gloria Linker, Otterbein; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a son, Kerry J. Olds; one brother, Harold J. Olds; two sisters, Betty L. Donovan, Ruth O’Neal; and his parents. John graduated from Veedersburg High School in 1957, and went on to attend Purdue University. He was employed for many years as both a Civil & Mechanical Engineer employed by Esco Corporation and Abex Corporation. During his time of employment he traveled throughout the world; which resulted in him having been on six different continents. After his retirement he started his own consulting firm Minetec, which he operated for several years. John liked to stay active and enjoyed working with his hands on many different projects; and had built one of the homes where he and Saundra resided. He also enjoyed golf and Nascar. For many years John and Saundra had spent their winters in Florida, where he enjoyed working at Walt Disney World. Visitation will be 11:30 – 1:00 Saturday January 12, 2019 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg. Funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home with Rev.
