Larry Lee “Lot” Byers, 76, of Veedersburg, passed away 2:42PM Saturday July 6, 2019 at King’s Daughter’s Hospital in Madison, Indiana.
Larry was born January 8, 1943 in Williamsport, IN the son of Ted and Elizabeth “Babe” (Smith) Byers. He was first married to Debra “Susie” Simon and they later divorced; his second marriage was to Lois Rose Harden, and she has preceded him in death.
He is also preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, William, Junior, Bradley, Clyde, and Gary Byers; four sisters, Mary “Dolly” Stembaugh, Betty Allen, JoAnn Jeffries, and Sharon Rose Byers.
Surviving family include, companion Brenda Bracken, Silverwood; a son Gregory J. Milburg; three daughters, Laura Fletcher, Indianapolis; Sara (Mike) Byers Haslam, Crawfordsville; Bonnie (Tony Logston) Byers, Carmi IL; two sisters, Nelda Hollinshead and Kay Simonton, both of Veedersburg; brother, Jim (Sandy) Byers, Crawfordsville; several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Larry graduated from Veedersburg High School in 1962 and served his country in the US Army as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne “Screaming Eagles”. He was employed for over 20 years at Midstates Steel and Wire in Crawfordsville. He was a past member of the American Legion.
Larry enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. He had a very active ornery streak and a wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed all of his family, especially his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2:00PM Saturday July 13, 2019 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg IN with Pastor Gary Johnson officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 Noon Saturday and continue until the time of service. Burial will be at Cold Spring Cemetery near Veedersburg with Military Honors provided by American Legion Post #288 and the US Army. Memorial contributions are requested to help with funeral expense.
