Lonnie Ray Slider

Lonnie Ray Slider, 75, of Covington, Indiana, died in his home on Thursday, January 31, 2019. He was the precious husband of Sherry Slider for almost 50 years. Lon and Sherry were blessed with four children: Douglas (Karynn), Randy (Jenny), Elizabeth Simon (Kevin), and Laura Russell (Charlie). They were grandparents of 11 grandchildren, Scott, Michael, Kadie, Bradley Slider (Doug & Karynn); Macy Lexi, Curt and Annalyse Slider (Randy & Jenny); Lilly and Hunter Russell (Laura & Charlie); Sophie Simon (Beth & Kevin); and three great-grandchildren: Aiden, Emma, and Mason (Scott & Betsy).

Survivors include all of the above, along with sister Joan Talbert (Roger) and brother Tom Slider (Linda).

Lonnie graduated from U. of I. with a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree from Eastern. He was a Naturopathic Doctor and ran the Herb House for 30 years.

The funeral will be at the Church of the Nazarene  1203 Washington Street Covington IN on Wednesday February 6, 2019. Visitation will be 4:00 – 7:00 PM (EST) on Wednesday and the funeral service will begin at 7:00 PM (EST). Online Condolences at www.dickersonfuneralhome.com

Lonnie was a quiet gentle man. His gift was teaching; and he taught his children, his Sunday School Class, and his clients at the Herb House. His other gift was giving to others in need. He especially was fond of giving to the Clean Water Fund through James Robeson. Giving gave him great joy.

As his illness was long, we had time to talk about his Homecoming, walking the mountain tops with Jesus, learning the Wisdom of the Ages. Lon loved his Bible and studied it well. He’s walking with the Lord Jesus now, on the mountain top, learning from his Savior.
