Lowell Daniel “Dan” Riley, 70, of Covington, IN, after experiencing the love, care, and prayers of his family and friends throughout his courageous battle with cancer, left this life for eternal life in God on Thursday July 14, 2022.
Dan was born September 12, 1951 in Crawfordsville, IN, the son of Lowell Matthew and Lorene Isabell (Allen) Riley; they have preceded him in death. He married Debra Lynn Cooke June 20, 1981 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Danville, IL.
Dan was raised on his family’s small farm in Veedersburg, IN, learning the values of hard work, perseverance, and compassion for others. He graduated from Fountain Central High School in 1969. Following graduation, he was employed at TeePak (Viscofan) in Danville IL where he became a supervisor and continued for 45 years prior to his retirement.
Throughout his marriage to Debra, he continued to expand his heart and mind the sacramental life of the Catholic Church, raising his four children with unconditional love in the wonderful town of Covington, IN. All his life, he greatly enjoyed all outdoor activities, especially hunting, fishing, gardening, and home construction with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Lynn Riley, Covington; a daughter, Jennifer Renee Riley (Robert Scott Leibering) Lafayette IN; three sons, Justin Daniel (Mia) Riley, Lebanon, IN; Marcus Lowell (Jill) Riley, Sunman, IN; Michael Carl (Taylor) Riley, Noblesville, IN; four brothers, Bruce Alan (Lila Sue) Riley, Rolla, MO; Ronald Joseph (Martha) Riley, Covington; Brian Scott (Rebecca) Riley, Veedersburg; Timothy Michael (April) Riley, Crawfordsville; a sister, Linda Carol (Kenny) Busenbark, Terre Haute, IN; five grandchildren, Dustin Riley, Adeline Riley, Easton Riley, Nora Riley, and Jullian Riley.
Visitation will be 4:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday July 20, 2022 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg, IN; with Rosary Service beginning at 3:30 PM. Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 AM Thursday July 21, 2022 at St Joseph Catholic Church in Covington IN. Burial will be at St Peter & Paul Catholic Church Cemetery in Westville, IL Thursday following the funeral lunch.
