Ruth Clair Simonton

Ruth Clair Simonton, 77, of Veedersburg, passed away at her residence Tuesday November 9, 2021.

Ruth was born September 23, 1944 in Benton Harbor, Michigan, the daughter of Arnold B. and Ophie Mae (Newnum) Mack. She married Charles R. Simonton May 14, 1968 in Williamsport; he preceded her in death September 4, 2018.

She is also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles & Claude Mack, and a sister Viola Young.

Surviving family include a son, Steven C. (Julie Mathews) Simonton, Veedersburg; a daughter, Sylvia I. (Howard) Logsdon, Veedersburg; a sister, Mary Ellen Cutting, Effingham, IL; a brother, George “Butch” (Linda Sue) Mack, Marshall, IN; two grandchildren, Alexis Logsdon,  Tommy Logsdon; and several nieces and nephews.  

Ruth was an Elvis fan. She enjoyed playing bingo, and card games; reading novels, and going to flea markets, especially during the covered bridge festival.  And more than anything she loved and enjoyed her grandkids.

Earlier in life, Ruth had been employed at the 3M sewing factory in Veedersburg; and she had been employed for many years at Steel Grip in Danville and Covington.

Graveside service will be 11:00 AM Saturday November 13, 2021 at Rush Creek Cemetery near Tangier Indiana with Pastor Gary Johnson officiating. Online condolences at www.dickersonfuneralhome.
